Featured Blogspot Graphic Design: THE PUNGEONING

THE PUNGEONING is about Art, Graphic Design, Cultural Criticism, and Psy-Ops.

Designers are seeking inspiration in different kind of ways. Does it always have to be visual experiencing? When you see something unique or when you find an unusual creation then you react to see what you can do about it? What if the inspiration comes from what I call: “Cultural Criticism”.

Lordsomber is the author of THE PUNGEONING . It is a blog, a story telling of your surroundings, a beautifully poetic depiction of cultural criticism into graphic and a journey of moving souls.

Well this designer artist has all the answers in an interesting interview.

Lordsomber, could you first introduce yourself?

Salutations. I am Lordsomber, silent fly on the wall, amnesiac from the future, the sizzle in the brain pan.

Cultural criticism is your interest for most of the time. Why?

It is a way to observe today’s thought patterns and behaviours in the context of underlying psychohistorical memes, attitudes and actions. The blinders people wear are more often put on by themselves. Pungeoning is about holding up the Mirror of Reality to Man’s Folly.

You describe yourself as an artist of many talents. Could you tell me what style of art that represents your talents?

Whereas many pieces and vignettes may have dreamy, surreal or abstract qualities, I leave particular labels up to the viewer and critic.

Featured Blogspot Graphic Design: THE PUNGEONING

The Pungeoning, started the post début in 2005. Is it so much about your journey?

It is as much an archive as current journal or gallery. Some entries are 15 minutes old, some are 15 years old.

What are the essential concerns to create your design?

The gist is often buried under layers and curves of context and meaning, like peeling and onion or meandering along a Möbius strip. The core or resolution is often not revealed to even me until a piece is finished.

Does music bring inspirational sense to your graphic design?

Indirectly. Lighting is used as a movie might use a soundtrack to set mood or tone. This may be either central or incidental to any given piece.

Anything else you would like to say to the readers?

Commentary, interpretation and criticism are welcome and appreciated.

Last sticky question to my entire interviewed artist: What is a good art or graphic design supposed to be?

Good graphic design comes down to clear communication, which is just the opposite of my arcane, esoteric pontifications ;)
...hence, should these ponderings not fall under the ill-defined category of just “art”? As for what is “good art,” I leave that can of worms to braver souls.

Terrific idea is somehow a result of pondering attitude towards what we catch a glimpse of, as THE PUNGEON does. Thank you for Lordsomber who shares his life journey’s viewpoints in this week Blogspot Featured Graphic Design.

Lordsomber profiles:

How do you seek your own idea to develop your design concept? Do you experiencing an art as profound as Lordsomber?
